A child’s basic needs of safety, stability, and an ongoing connection to at least one loving, responsive adult caregiver must be elevated above the rights of all else. By giving voice to this simple truth, we are paving the way for better outcomes for kids in the system. But our voices alone are not enough. Your voice is needed too.
Monthly Community Conversation
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. `Margaret Mead, American Anthropologist
Our small group of thoughtful committed citizens isn’t out to change the world. We just want to change the child welfare system so it meets the needs and prioritizes the rights of abused and neglected kids.
Change starts with conversation and an honest look at what’s working, what isn’t and how we can forge solutions together.
You are warmly invited to join us for our monthly community conversation where we explore challenges facing the current system and community-driven efforts to effect positive change. Please bring your best thinking to the table and help us elevate the needs and rights of very vulnerable kids.

Change Letter Writing Groups
Student Change Letter Groups are designed to engage and educate the next generation of caseworkers, attorneys, foster parents and political leaders while mobilizing them to take specific action now.
IKP provides one-hour group presentations to high school and college students who are interested in learning more the child welfare system and how we can work together to improve the challenges facing abused and neglected children. Special emphasis is placed on the power of healthy relationships, empathy and community.
Following a 30-minute presentation and discussion, students write their own letters to elected officials sharing their thoughts and opinions on solutions. Students are eligible to receive one hour of community service for their participation.
Interested in hosting your own change letter group with 5 or 50 of your closest friends? Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get you all set up.
